However, that doesn’t mean trying to detox your body is a total waste of time. In fact, there are studies that show how you can encourage detoxification through various lifestyle changes and practices. One of the best ways is through eating nutritious foods and ingredients that have been shown to have detoxification properties. A popular detox ingredient these days is turmeric. Characterized by its golden yellow color, turmeric is added to everything from rice to soup. It has potent anti-inflammatory properties as shown in several studies, as well as antioxidant benefits which is why it’s the main ingredient in this instant pot tomato turmeric detox soup.

Instant Pot Turmeric Tomato Detox Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 2 cups bone broth
  • 2 (14 oz) cans diced tomatoes
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • salt, black pepper to taste
  • mixed seeds and nuts, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Press the SAUTE button on the Instant pot and let stand until screen reads “HOT”.
  2. Add the coconut oil.
  3. Add the onion and carrot and cook, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir in the turmeric powder.
  6. Press the CANCEL button.
  7. Add the diced tomatoes, dried basil and bone broth.
  8. Stir to combine.
  9. Close and seal the Instant pot.
  10. Turn the venting knob to SEALING.
  11. Press PRESSURE COOK button and check to make sure the pressure level shows as “High” in the display.
  12. Adjust the timer to 2 minutes.
  13. When finished cooking, quick-release pressure according to manufacturer’s directions.
  14. Open the lid.
  15. Stir in the apple cider vinegar.
  16. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
  17. Serve warm garnished with seeds and nuts if using.
