The first thing that you’ll have to do when making this recipe is to prepare the pork broth. After getting your broth sorted, you’ll want to add 6-8 spring onions, three crushed garlic cloves, one small onion, and four slices of fresh ginger. As you can probably guess from reading that list of ingredients, this is one tasty pork broth indeed.

With the broth out of the way, you can either refrigerate it or freeze it until you’re ready to use it.

You can now turn your attention to making the chashu pork by taking your pork belly and rolling it into a log. Tie it off using butcher twine and then place it inside the instant pot with your soy sauce, ginger, water, sake, mirin and garlic.

Pressure cook the above ingredients for 90 minutes and then remove the pork from the instant pot. After washing and drying the insert, put it back into the pot, add in three tablespoons of your preferred cooking oil, and then add the pork back in, searing all of the sides until it’s golden brown. Leave the pork to cool off completely before slicing it.

As far as the ramen goes, simply cook the noodles according to the package instructions and then divide your noodles amongst your bowls.

Next, use a large saucepan and bring your tonkatsu broth to a simmer before ladling into each of your bowls. Finally, you can go ahead and top each of the bowls with two slices of chashu pork, half of a whole egg, some sliced shiitake mushroom, pieces of nori, and sliced spring onion.

Can This Instant Ramen Be Stored in the Freezer?

We recommend freezing the noodles separately. Don’t combine it with the broth and freeze them together. For firm noodles every time, simply defrost the broth and cook a fresh batch of ramen noodles upon serving.

When refrigerating, we also recommend separating the noodles from the broth. If you leave the noodles in, it will absorb the broth, leaving you with dry noodles. Still delicious, but probably not what you had in mind for ramen!
