I used to hate eating granola bars, and the type of granola bars that my parents would buy could probably be better classified as ‘sugary treat’ rather than ‘healthy snack’ anyway, so I never really bothered. But now that I’m older? I absolutely love granola bars. Ironically enough, the type of granola bars that I enjoy are usually homemade with nothing but your stereotypical ‘healthy’ ingredients too, so you’re definitely better off with this recipe than the store-bought variety.

How to make the best make-ahead granola bar mix.

If you’re also a fan of healthy homemade granola mixes, then you’re going to love this. Today I’ll be sharing a recipe for making your own granola bar mix in a jar that offers up a deliciously fruity taste that you’ll go nuts for–no pun intended. You’ll be using dried cranberries when making this recipe, along with old fashioned rolled oats, coarsely chopped almonds, dark mini chocolate chips, and a few other common baking ingredients.

To make the bars, in a small saucepan place 1/3 cup of honey, ¼ cup of butter and 1 tsp vanilla extract.

Cook over low heat, whisking constantly until the butter is melted.

In a bowl add the entire jar of granola bar mix.

Add the butter mixture and mix to combine.

Firmly press the mixture into an 8×8 inch baking pan lined with parchment paper.

Bake in preheated oven at 325°F for 40-50 minutes or until golden.

Refrigerate overnight then slice and serve.
