How to Make Christmas Deviled Eggs
Making Christmas Deviled Eggs is so easy, you’ll be surprised how quickly you can go through a whole batch of eggs. Here’s my recipe:
- Prepare the eggs. Peel the eggs and cut them in half lengthways. Scoop out the egg yolks.
- Combine the ingredients. Add the egg yolks, mayonnaise and mustard to a bowl and mix until creamy and smooth.
- Season. Season to taste with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Add the food coloring. Fill 2 medium bowls with water. Add a few drops of red food coloring into one bowl and mix to combine. Add a few drops of green food coloring into another bowl and mix to combine.
- Stain the egg whites. Place 6 egg whites into red water and 6 egg whites into green water. Take the whites out when they turn red and green, and place them on a paper towel to dry.
- Fill the eggs. Fill the egg whites with egg yolk mixture.
- Refrigerate. Arrange on a plate and refrigerate for a minimum of one hour before serving.
How Long Do Christmas Deviled Eggs Stay Fresh?
If you store your deviled eggs in the fridge, they will last for 3 to 4 days. This is the best way to store them if you want to keep them fresh and prevent them from going bad.
The best way to tell if deviled eggs have gone bad is to check for signs of spoilage, such as mold or an off odor. If you see either of these things, it’s best to throw out the eggs.
Why Are My Deviled Eggs Not Creamy?
One of the most common reasons why deviled eggs are not creamy is because there is not enough mayonnaise in the mixture.
Mayonnaise is a key ingredient in deviled eggs as it helps to bind all of the other ingredients together and gives the dish its signature creamy texture. If your mixture is too dry, simply add more mayonnaise until it reaches the desired consistency.
Another crucial mistake that can ruin deviled eggs is overcooking the eggs themselves.
The yolks should be cooked until they are firm but still moist, as this will ensure that they are easy to mash and will result in a creamier final product. If your yolks are dry or crumbly, your deviled eggs will not be as creamy as they should be.
