Is there such a thing as a healthy dessert? Searching through products at the supermarket may lead you to believe that a healthy pudding doesn’t exist. We don’t blame you for drawing this conclusion. One look at the nutritional information label on any dessert product reveals copious amounts of sugar, dairy, and preservatives. No health-conscious person wants to eat that rubbish.

We decided to take dessert into our own hands and had our gourmet chef whip up a recipe for healthy chocolate pudding. Our dessert contains no dairy or refined sugar. We use organic maple syrup as a sweetener and natural cocoa powder as the chocolate base. There’s no need for dairy when you can mash up and avocado and get the same creamy mouth-feel as milk. Give our recipe a shot and severe your family a healthy dessert.

Curb Your Chocolate Craving

It may come as a surprise, but the primary ingredient in this dessert dish is avocado. Avocado provides the creamy, smooth finish to this dish. The sweetness comes from organic maple syrup and the chocolate flavor from organic cocoa powder. Blended with unsweetened almond milk for additional creaminess, the final texture of this pudding is heavenly.

Did we mention that this recipe is excellent for your health? Imagine that? Avocado has a slightly bitter and creamy flavor. That’s why it’s necessary to add the maple syrup and cocoa powder. These two ingredients cut the sharp, somewhat bitter flavor of the avocado, providing a delicious chocolatey taste.

When you’re shopping for the maple syrup, make sure you buy real maple syrup and not “maple-flavored” syrup. There’s a big difference between the two products. “Maple-flavored,” means that its corn syrup or cane syrup with maple flavoring. This syrup is terrible for your health and has a much higher glycemic index than genuine maple syrup. (2)

After shopping, it’s time to make the pudding in the comfort of your kitchen. This dessert is so easy to make, all you need to do is throw all the ingredients into a food processor and blend till smooth. Make sure there’s no lumps leftover, as this will affect the final taste of the pudding.

When it’s ready, pour the mixture out into glasses and set in the fridge for a few hours to let it set. When it’s ready, prepare some fresh raw whipped cream and top off the desserts before serving.
